The broad, diverse Gentilly neighborhood in New Orleans is home to historic Dillard University and has the largest collection of California Craftsman-style bungalows in Louisiana. Even though away from downtown, there is still a rich history and culture in these surrounding areas. Historic neighborhoods like Gentilly sit on some of the highest ground in the city and this once rural area lives today as the starting ground for other neighborhoods that surround it.
