Founded in 1783, Treme stands strong as the oldest African-American neighborhood in the nation. The Faubourg Treme, which is viewed by many as ground zero of New Orleans culture, is home to centuries old architecture and is still one of the major hotbeds for live music in New Orleans. This diverse background has created an area in New Orleans known for its famous jazz funerals and historic sites.
